After gathering together Adam, JR, Tad, Palmer, Opal, Brooke, Jamie, Joe, Babe and Krystal, Di takes a deep breath and tells Dixie's family that she doesn't deserve all the love they've shown her. A suspicious Kendall demands the truth from her husband. Meanwhile, Ryan hesitantly broaches a difficult subject with Greenlee as they lie in each other's arms. Di finally reveals her true identity to the stunned assemblage at the Chandler mansion but JR refuses to believe that the woman standing before him is not his long-lost mother. Ryan admits to his astonished wife how he decided to stage his own death after his suicide attempt failed. Across town, Zach tells Kendall he supported Ryan's choice because he thought it was right for the young man to leave Pine Valley behind. As the truth begins to sink in, Greenlee is staggered to realize that her husband deliberately allowed her to believe he was dead and gone. Di tearfully explains how deeply she yearned to fill the hole Dixie's demise left in everyone who loved her. Kendall rails at Zach for watching Greenlee grieve for weeks on end without saying a word to end her pain. Outraged by Di's masquerade, Opal slaps her across the face. Greenlee furiously accuses Ryan of ripping out her heart. Still unwilling to accept that his mother is never coming back, JR frantically begs Di to recant her confession. Later, Tad reaches out to his unhappy stepson. Zach refuses to apologize for his lies but Kendall insists he should have come clean before she agreed to be impregnated with Ryan's child.
