Stunned by Jonathan's revelation, Alan leaves the Towers with Beth running after him. Mel walks out after Rick fails to deny it. Rick yells at Jonathan for ruining lives of innocent people. When Jonathan defends his actions, Tammy points out how he has hurt Mel who helped him during his trial. Remy jumps Jonathan and the two exchange punches until someone threatens to call the police. Tammy assures Jonathan she could never be with anyone else and then leaves. Lizzie advises Jonathan that they are perfect for each other. Talking about battered women, Remy asks Tammy if Jonathan's love is the kind she truly wants in her life. Though Rick tries to explain why he turned to Beth, Mel slaps him and tells him she doesn't trust anything he says. She orders him to pack and move into his love nest. When Olivia insists that they talk, she asks Ava why she hasn't gone to the police yet. Ava warns Olivia that she must turn herself in or face the consequences. Ashlee catches Dinah eyeing the Springfield Burns website which now features a "story" about Marina and Mallet having an affair. Later, Dinah has a drink with Olivia who confesses that she just found out Ava is her daughter. But as she goes on, Olivia continues to blame Ava for all the troubles she's had lately. Mallet arrives at the station house, followed by a camera crew for his cop show but when Marina shows him the website, he orders the crew to leave. After getting rid of them, Mallet finds Dinah at his desk, making comments about Marina. Once Dinah leaves, Frank questions Mallet about his friendship with his daughter. Mallet can't believe Frank would believe the gossip but suggests he pair Marina with another detective. Hearing this, Marina refuses to work with someone else and suggests they play up the affair to draw out the anonymous blogger.

Catching Beth inside the room where she and Rick had sex, Mel blasts her for stealing her husband. Beth resents the attack but Mel responds that if Alan forgives her, she'll have plenty to pay for. When Olivia approaches an upset Alan about helping her with Emma, he hints that he knows plenty and stuns her when he asks if she's trying to have Ava killed. Playing dumb, Olivia explains she wants Ava sent out of town and in return, she agrees to have Rick tossed out of the hotel. Meanwhile, Ava approaches Alan-Michael for help teaching her how to be "ruthless." Warning her not to turn into another Olivia, Alan-Michael offers to help her personally with whatever she needs done. Frustrated that Ava won't give him an answer, Coop asks Marina to help him break into Olivia's place to find proof she hired Gillespie to kill Ava. Just after Coop finds the photo of Ava, Olivia returns and orders them both to get out. In the hall Coop is surprised when Marina shows him the adoption papers she found while snooping. While Marina seems to figure out the secret, Coop is confused and caught off guard when Ava confronts them. Alone with Leah, Rick takes the opportunity to admit that he cheated on Mel. Leah is outraged and lets loose with her anger. When Mel realizes she knows what Rick did, she assures Leah that Rick still loves her but adds with a shake of her head that she doesn't know if she can ever forgive him. Impressed with the way Gus manhandles Driscoll, the man who abandoned his baby, Harley wants to try to have a child with him so they rush home. A depressed Rick interrupts and though Harley and Gus hint that they're ready to have another child, he talks his way into staying with them for awhile. Threatening to throw her away, Alan tells a drunk Beth that he will get revenge for humiliating him and wants her to get rid of Ava permanently for him.

Marina wakes to find her family members surrounding her, congratulating her on being the next Cooper to become a cop. They also point out she's the youngest detective in Springfield history. Harley sends them out so she can help her get ready for today's ceremony. When she asks about Mallet, Marina insists that she's not dating him or any of her other ex-husbands. At the shooting range reflecting on what led her to this moment, Marina is surprised by Mallet who asks if she has a date for the ceremony. As she considers her personal life, Marina realizes she doesn't know any men who are not cops or not in her family. Mallet asks if she invited Alan-Michael. Marina finds Alan-Michael in a parking garage where they are car jacked and thrown into a trunk. Admitting she planned to invite him to her ceremony, he congratulates her but guesses she's not really that excited about her future. He offers her a career in security at Spaulding but she doesn't respond so he leaves. She's thrilled later when her mother Eleni arrives at her place. She too wonders if Marina is doing this to make her father happy. Marina reminds her she didn't have a mother around to help her with her plans to be an actress and assures her she wants to be a detective. Before the ceremony, Eleni tries to suggest her theory to Frank but Marina interrupts. After the ceremony, Marina wonders if she is doing this for the wrong reason. At the family party Marina hands out presents and tells herself she's exactly where she wants to be.

Jeffrey lectures Mallet about failing to uncover who is behind the Springfield Burns website. Dinah warns Marina about Mallet's desire to sleep with his partners but Marina points out she's sounding like the text on the website. When Dinah threatens to investigate her internet work, Dinah sheepishly admits she may have tipped off the blogger. Mallet warns Dinah to look after herself. Dinah boasts to Jeffrey of her plans to draw out the blogger with more info about Mallet and Marina. Beth approaches Ava for help protecting Emma but Alan-Michael interrupts and warns Ava that Beth is trying to make amends with Alan by doing his dirty work. After Beth walks out with a rude remark, Ava opens up to Alan-Michael about what Olivia's been doing and shows her bruises as proof. He offers to hire security for her but she turns down the offer. Later, Beth hints to Alan-Michael that she's interested in what he might have to offer her. When a scheming Olivia lies to Buzz that Ava is insane, he finds it hard to believe but offers to go with her to talk with Ava. Gus and Harley try to figure out how to start a family together while Rick lives with them. Rick finally realizes what's going on and after he chases after Leah, Gus and Harley are about to take advantage of the empty kitchen but Buzz and Olivia arrive. Stepping outside for some air, Olivia is startled by Coop who claims he knows all about Ava's adoption. He guesses she's trying to destroy Ava's memories of her mother by telling her she was adopted but Olivia realizes he doesn't understand her secret. Ava interrupts but Coop decides he can't tell her what he's learned. Gus and Harley slip away leaving Buzz to mediate. Olivia asks Ava if they can be friends but Ava won't hear it and asserts that she must pay for all that she has done. Olivia blurts out that she brought her into this world and "can take her out."
