Did you know that everyone goes through a pre-audition before even being allowed to audition for the judges? That brings me to the question... why do they let so many of the horrible people through? I know that some of it is for entertainment value but the whole show (at least the audition ones) has become making fun of the people who aren't all together.
Would you rather see all the freaks auditioning or would you like to see more of the people who could possibly make it on the show audition?

good point and good question. i'm thinking that they show some of the horrible horrible ones that there is no question on how bad they are for entertainment. also like the one the other night that was in tears cuz she thought she had it, that kind of drama would get boring and old fast.

maybe the pre auditon people like to torture simon?

I honestly find it wrong that they pre-audition and let these folks through. It's definitely for entertainment purposes, but pumping somebody up just to make fun of them in the end is horrible!

Yep, it is all set up. They (the producers) also pump up these horrible singers and tell them that the judges are going to love them, etc. Also, I think they edit a lot in, notice when they are going on and on about a person, you never see the judges and the contestant in the same shot. Doesn't mean I don't watch. I mean really, I blame the family and friends of these idiots that think they can sing. And everyone knows Simon is gonna be brutal, so this whole boo hoo thing afterwards floors me every time....

I have never seen the show, but the music/show business is brutal. No one is going to spare your feelings in the entertainment industry. I think if you're going to make it in that business, you're going to have to develop a pretty thick skin. Even stars who are very successful face harsh critism about both their professional and business life.

If you can't take critism, if it's going to make you cry - don't go into the creative arts. My dh is an artist and I'm a writer. I imagine between the two of us, we've been told about every mean thing in the books. I was once told to "to go slit my wrists" rather than keep writing. If anything, my dh has received even worse critism than that.

I'm just saying if these people really want to be professional singers, then they'll have to get used to it. Because it won't be the first, last, or only time someone says something mean to them. And since it's a very public venue, it will probably be in front of a lot of people.

I think that they have to let so many bad ones in too, it helps make the show, amazingly enough. Lets face it, we all watch the auditions, and we all ALWAYS comment on the bad ones, and what happens...we go back for more
