There's a whole lot of shakin' going on this morning. I didn't feel the earthquake that happened at 4:37am this morning (CST) however we just had one (probably an aftershock) about 15-20 minutes ago. I definitely felt that one! Nothing fell off my desk but it sure shook the chair I am sitting in. The supply cabinet not too far from me was shaking too. It wasn't bad enough to do damage to our builidng so we are all just sitting here moving on with our work.

Did anyone else feel an earthquake this morning?

P.S. Spike (our cockatiel) did go crazy this morning..I think a little before the earthquake..so he sensed something.

Yep, I got woke up at the one at 4:30 something this morning and just a little bit ago me and Maci were almost freaking out. LOL The tv, lights and desk were all shaking like crazy. Even the curtains! Its such a weird feeling! Nothing fell off here either but it was enough to definatly be felt.

We don't get them very often..only once in a blue moon. The St. Louis area sits on the Madrid fault (epicenter is in New Madrid, MO...south of St. Louis in the bootheel of MO).

The earthquake this morning was from a fault that is the north extension of the Madrid fault. I just hope we don't get the big one that St. Louis had back in the early 1800's. They are saying it is going to happen but we just don't know when. Here is a description of what happened back on December 16, 1811:

Kevin felt it up here. I was ound asleep and Kev wacked me and asked me if I felt that. I was like felt what? He said the house was shaking. I think there was an earthquake. I was like ya whatever and went back to sleep. Only to wake up this am and there WAS an earthquake.

Now how he can feel it 350 miles away but can't here his child cry in the next room?

I didn't feel anything here in OH although I heard from other people who did. I lived in Evansville IN for a few years which was right near the center of the quake.
I'm thankful no one was hurt.

Nope. I was asleep. Didn't even know there was an aftershock.

Houston is one big fault line, but in all the years I've lived here (28), we've never had anything like that. I think that would have scared the be-jesus out of me!

Well, I might feel more tremors at work. Looks like there was another earthquake very very early this morning:

I'd rather have the snow too. Steve said he heard Spike going crazy very early yesterday morning again so he must have sensed the earthquake even though we didn't feel it. I hear birds can be sensitive that way.

There were no tremors here at work yesterday thank goodness.
