Think it's real honey on the cheerios? or just honey flavor? Gabe loves the regular kind but I can't stand them so if I only have to buy one box that would be nice but I know that he's not allowed honey yet. I've been following the rules pretty strictly so I don't want to give it to him if it's real honey.

what do ya think? real or not?

I personally don't care much for the plain Cheerios but love the honey nut ones. I've given them to all my kids when they started eating finger foods and haven't had a problem with them.

I'm probably on the safer side then most. He's my only.

So no nuts, no honey, no berries, no milk, no egg white, etc yet because he's under a year.

The berries will be forever before he has those since DH is allergic to raspberries and my brother to strawberries. So I'm careful with any of the possible allergy stuff.

I understand - I was the same way with number one! By three and four, you're just happy to have them eat something they can feed to themselves!

My pedi ok'd them for Zachariah when he was under one. Or course, it was considering we have no allergies in our family. I remember him specifically saying he was more likely to choke on peanut butter than to be allergic to it.

Apple Cinnamon Cherrios are kid and adult friendly. ;-)

I already decided against them Like I said it was just laziness that made me ask. I went and got him his own box. Not his fault his mommy only likes the ones that are bad for ya

I don't think the honey mixed in would be an issue. You just can't give them actual honey because it could contain spores of Clostridium botulinum--which can possibly cause botulism in babies, but isn't harmful to adults. (I checked my copy of What to Expect the First Year for this information). So no worries if the honey is in something and has been cooked.
Also, the "nuts" in the cereal would not worry me unless nuts are way up high on the ingredient list. Lots of things we feed our kids are made or processed in plants with tree nuts or peanuts. In fact, I am sure plain Cheerios are made right alongside the Honey Nut ones.
I agree with Liz's point about the sugar, too. Not that it's terrible, like she said, just probably more sugar at once than Gabe is used to. He might be bouncing off the walls for you!

Honey nut cheerios is the only cereal Connor will it. Literally, no other cereal he will touch!

I am sure it would be fine to introduce it to Gabe.

Have you tried the Multi Grain Cheerios? They only have 6 grams of sugar and my whole family likes them because they are lightly sweetened. I switched Brenna to them after she got the hang of finger foods. After I started giving her Gerber Puffs that had a lot of flavor, she wouldn't eat the plain ol' Cheerios anymore. Since Cheerioes are SO much cheaper than the puffs I tried out the sweetened ones and she seemed content with them. 6 grams of sugar is quite low in the first place and when it is cut in to a baby serving, it is even less.
