well, this has been an old thread but just in case anyone else can make it up here and ask this same question, there here are some tips for you to know if your baby is ready for solid food:

does your baby sits well when supported?

is your baby displaying a very strong appetite?

is he curios about adult food?

If your answer to these questions is yes, then your baby is ready for solid food.
