I am trying to decide when to take my son's pacifier away. He is not really attached to it but it helps him fall asleep. That is really the only time he uses it. Oh yeah he does use it when I am putting on that awful snowsuit
He just about goes into hysterics when I put it on him.
He is only 5 months old so I know that I probably have a while. I am just thinking if he is not to attached to it now maybe I should take it away soon so he does not get to attached. My husband did not want to start our son on a pacifier but when he was in the NICU he needed it to learn how to suck so he could eat out of a bottle.

When did you or when are you planning on taking it away from your child?

Neither one of my kids really took a pacifier. They used one for the first few weeks to fall asleep, but then they both gave it up on their own before they were even 6 weeks old.

Of course my 4 yr old is an avid thumb sucker, which is much harder to break her of since I can't exactly hide her thumb!

There are a lot of conflicting reports as to whether or not it's even a problem for babies to use pacifiers. Since he's not really attached to it, maybe this would be the time to try to take it away and see what happens. On the other hand, is there any danger in letting him decide when he's ready to give it up?

Told you I wouldn't be any help! LOL

Anyone else have advice?
