When did your child start eating with a spoon/fork by themselves? My dd is 19 mos and she does okay but most of the food ends up on the floor and her. She seems like she is struggling a bit and I was just wondering when your kids got the hang of it?

I hope she gets the hang of it soon! I'm so sick of cleaning up spilled food! I can't really complain though, my dog gets anything that hits the floor!

Liz still makes a mess from time to time. We tend to give her a fork and spoon at dinner so she can decide what she wants to use. We also started giving her a desert fork rather than the dull "baby" forks and that works better

Zach is 25 months and does just fine with a fork or spoon. He really just in the past few months figured out how to get it in his mouth without turning it over first.
He doesn't get much of it on his face anymore unless it is something like yogurt or ravioli. We still have messes where he pushes his food out of the bowl or plate but we have to clean up messes from our 6 yr old too.

I'd love to be the ideal mother but I'm too busy raising my kids.

Brandon does pretty well. We don't give him a baby fork either because it can't stab anything to keep on the fork. He does better with a fork than a spoon, but he still makes a mess and sometimes resorts to using his hands. He is 22 months now.

Trey just used a fork for the first time on last Friday!

Everything still ends up on the floor and I have no idea how the boy can be so chunky if he barely eats!!!

I am in for a long road ahead of me!

Logan will be 20 months on the 9th and still makes horrible messes and ends up using his fingers infrustration but we keep at it. He also throws his bowl or plate on the floor when he feels he is done
