Yep, we were really lucky... here if they have a spot after the kiddos turn 3, they let you in. What Lauren goes to is a private preschool that's part of the school district (as if THAT made any sense...
). Down the hall is the PASS class... or the government funded preschool. That one I don't think that they will let you in past a certain date for your birthday.
At any rate, we decided to look into it because with all that I have to do with Ryan... Speech, OT, etc.... It gives Lauren something that is her own. She only goes on Monday and Wednesday from 8:15 to 11 am, but she LOVES it. She talks about her teachers and little friends all the time. They do projects, crafts, stories, games, play outside and they will take a field trip next Wednesday to a cool little playground/park that's only about 3 blocks from school. I have really seen a wonderful growth in her personality and "being" since she started. She will actually be in the same class for the full year next year, because her birthday is at the end of October, but that's OK. There are a few others that will do the same.
I find that having Lauren in Preschool is actually very educational for me and DH as parents. It definitely reminds us of what's important, what to focus on and things to help Lauren learn, such as tracing the letters that we print for her. It's just a great reminider. Also, they do evaluations of her progress, which helps us see where we need to kick it up a notch for her.
It's just been such a good thing for us, I just wanted to share some ideas for all to use, since I'm always looking for great ideas.
