The Moxie Crimefighter has a weird name for sure. The reason the middle name is even weirder then the first name is that the mom doesn't believe in middle names so if she had to get one it had to be ridicoulous.

Nicolas Cage's son is named Kal-el (as in Superman's real name) poor kid.

PV2Brittany92Y 04-01-2006 12:25 PM

I don't remember who had this one but Pilot Inspector was a celeb name. What is wrong with these people? Why do they give their kids such odd names?

Mumtoboo 04-01-2006 01:11 PM

Dweezil and Moon Unit - Frank Zappa's kids.

TammyB 04-02-2006 12:20 PM

How bout the Phoenix crew - there was River, Leaf, and there was a girl too, can't remember her name...Moon or something. She played Punky Brewster on the show.....

Robyn 04-02-2006 12:52 PM

Soleil Moon Frye ~ is Punky Brewster I do believe

David Bowie's kids name is Zowie Bowie

And do you remember the 'naked' chef Jamie Oliver??? They named their daughter Daisey Boo!

melizerd 04-02-2006 02:13 PM

That's Punky Brewster's name

TammyB 04-04-2006 06:55 PM

Thats it it, Robyn. Thats the name I was thinking of! I thought she was one of the Phoenix' crew. Guess I was wrong. Wonder if there is a girl Phoenix and I just had them mixed up..........?

TammyB 04-04-2006 07:03 PM

The rest of the Phoenix kids were - Rain, River, Liberty, and Summer. I looked up Joaquin's ( Leaf) bio.

Spaggie 04-04-2006 08:03 PM

Do these people not think about the teasing and harrassment their kids are going to get over their strange (and sometimes unpronounceable) names? Geez, people! Give your kids a break!

TammyB 04-05-2006 07:59 AM

There's a a guy my dad knows whose last name is Waters. He named his daughter Crystal Claire Waters (crystal clear waters). I also know a couple that named their daughter Unique Destiny.

Not celebrities I know, but odd names.

Mildr3d 04-12-2006 01:33 AM

I agree...these poor kids will have to live with these weird names! Makes you wonder if being a celeb affects the brain and your parenting instincts so maybe celebs should have special guardians if they're going to have kids?
I have a friend who immigrated from Russia. She wanted to name her daughter "Terrie" and the nurse at the hospital told her that's not a real name, that she has to name her "Teresa" then she can call her "Terrie" for short! (I was rather upset with that nurse, but maybe she should go work at the hospital where celebs go to have babies!
I know another lady (my dd's friend) - she has 3 girls named Crimson, Jayda, and Sage - which translated could Red, Green, and, well, Green! Which got us talking how you could have a whole family with colour names - Amber, Crimson, Jade, Emerald, Sage, Rose, Lavender, ...maybe this should be another thread, lists of names that all are in a category!
OK, OK, I'll shut up now! I really shouldn't get started on message boards at this hour of the night!

Grace 04-12-2006 04:07 AM

I don't know. Rose is a nice name. My grandma's name was Rose and my Great Grandmother's name was Rosa. I know a lot of older ladies named after flowers - Rose, Daisy, Lily, Violet.. to name a few. I've known several Crystals and few Claires. I grew up with Aprils, Mays and Junes too. I guess it's all where you grew up as to what seems normal to you. Probably a lot of people would think June or Joy were old names, but to me they are just old fashioned.

tailwaggers 04-12-2006 02:50 PM

Lenora, I agree. I like the name Rose. I went to school with a girl named April, and I know lots of women named Joy.
I taught with a woman who named her son BenoƮt, pronounced BenWA. She was adamant that he would never be called Ben, but his whole name had to be used all the time. And no, she and her husband were not French.
Also, I don't think CoCo is all that wierd. I am not saying I would use it, but it's not that offbeat.

melizerd 04-12-2006 02:53 PM

I'm going to be obnoxious like that with names. I don't want just any nick name to be attached to the name. I knew a kid named Phillip and you never ever ever called him Phil.

but then again I only allowed people to call me by my full name Melissa until I met my hubby, only then did Mel become ok

Dina 04-12-2006 03:09 PM

I think Apple grew on me too, and when I heard Gwyneth explain she chose it for her child becvause it was biblical and beautiful, and she followed suit with Moses which is another beautiful biblical name I believe her original thoughts for chosing Apple, and I do like it (but agree Grapferuit wouldnt work for me!!)

CoCo I am not crazy about - since her reason was to take Courney Cox and shorten it to CoCo ... I think thats a harder name to deal with as you grow up - at least having famous parents everyone will already know her, but still - think that one is more difficult.

ziggy1962 04-13-2006 02:20 PM

My husband came up with the name Hollie for our first daughter, so that makes her
Hollie Day. I thought it was a pretty name, so I agreed (it was alot better than some of the other names he came up with). I can tell you everybody remembers who Hollie Day is.

I named our second daughter April. Everybody asks was she born in April, but she was born in January. It was just a name I liked.

Hollie Elizabeth Day
April Marie Day
