I have an English ivy that I got about a year ago. I had to repot it because it was outgrowing its container. I split it into tow containers, but now the one with the longer runners is starting to look unhealthy. I'm wondering if it's because those runners are so long than they're not getting proper nutrients. Maybe I should trim it back and root the cuttings.

I've rooted "regular" ivy, but not English ivy. Do you root them the same way? (Cut them off below a leaf node and put them in water or soil.)

Does anyone know?

My mom used to cut ivy and root it in a vase of water all the time when I was growing up. I wasn't sure about english ivy though so I looked it up.
I didn't find much but the one article I read said to cut 6 inch tip pieces and remove the leaves from the lower 1/3 of the cut before rooting in a pot of soil. It also says to water every 2 to 3 days and keep out of direct sunlight.

I'd love to be the ideal mother but I'm too busy raising my kids.
