I remember when I was little that my mom stuck a potato (I don't remember if it was a white potato or a sweet potato) in a jar with some water, and the eyes grew into long roots and it developed this really pretty vine. She kept it in her kitchen window. I was thinking this might be a neat activity to do with kids, but I am not sure I remember correctly just how she did this.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

You can do it with either, you can use pencils to keep the potato upright.

You can then transplant to potato to the ganrden

You can also do this with cuttings off of certain plants.
