Have any of you put up vinyl fencing lately?

I hear getting it done is very expensive. We have to have it done after our house is built and I'm not looking forward to the expense of it. I don't want a wood fence which I hear is less expensive?? I thought it was the other way around.

If anyone has any insights on this, please let me know.

We just have chain link because vinyl fencing IS so expensive. Just to do our backyard with chain link cost over $500 I am sure that the contractors have financing available though. Good luck!

YES!! And it was such a wonderful investment! I think I have pics on here I can link you up to them! We replaced the fence around our pool, and we had a fence in the front yard- the vinyl is SO NICE, and I thought it was weird that it cost so much (it was actually about $10,000 including installation ) since when you touch it it seems cheap?!? I expected solid - but its AWESOME STUFF !! You just need to rinse it with the hose and its good to go! We needed a new fence anyway our wood was rotten - but this will last FOREVER! We had to save for it ... for a LONG time...

They won't allow chain link fence in Wright City.

Liz..I'll ask our agent about that. I'm so scared about the price of installation...more so than the actual price of the fence. These contractors can really get ya! I didn't think they could install fences but if it is cheaper to go through the builder - if they do it - then we might as well go that route.

I hear how much vinyl fencing lasts longer and is lower maintenance than wood fencing so that is why we are choosing vinyl over wood.

That's pretty Dina!!

I think I'll get Steve to go to fencing installation school!!

I'm hoping we can find fencing we like and is good quality at Home Depot or Lowes and find a 'relatively' inexpensive contractor to put it in. I might check with our church office to see if there is anyone at church who does that kind of work. That is another option.

Vinyl is more expensive but you never have to paint it, there's ZERO maintance on it. This is your "forever" house, I'd go with Vinyl, you'll be there to enjoy it.

Edit: you can install it yourself. It's not that hard, you just have to rent the thing that digs the holes and put in some sweat. We had ppl rent those things at Home Depot all the time.
