We have two or three bushes that we cut down last year. But I need to get the stumps and roots out of the ground. Is there any way to do this without hiring somebody to come out and grind them up? One is finally starting to loosen up and I think I'll be able to pull it up at some point soon, but the others aren't budging.

I think there is this stuff that's like Acid that you can put on the stumps to make them start to dissolve. I remember selling something like it when I was at Home Depot. I'd stop into a store like that and ask.

Here they burn them out. I don't know how well that works though. Back on the farm we used stump blast. I would not reccomend that method. Good luck!

We always burned them back home. But we're inside the city here, and that just wouldn't go over real well.

DH told me to pour gas on the stump and it would start to kill the roots. I wasn't crazy about that idea, but I did it on the one in the back. Didn't work on that one.

I'll have to check home Depot and Lowes and see what I can find.

I was reading a post in the Budget section that said vinegar was a good herbicide. It has to be safer and cheaper than gas.

ABC rental will rent a stump grinder pretty cheap for an hour that will allow you to grind the things yourself. You and hubby could do it and it would'nt cost a fortune.

I thought about renting one, but the last time I checked on renting something, it was pretty expensive. But, then that was a much bigger item, and over a year ago... Hmmmm...
