Are there any common houseplants that you can't kill -- at least not without malice on your part? You bet there are, and About's Gardening Guide, Marie Iannotti features 6 of them in this article on common houseplants. Because they'll grow in indirect light, don't mind normal household temperatures and humidity levels, and "are perfect for someone who always forgets to water their plants," these 6 common houseplants are a brown thumb's delight!

Killed a spider plant ( I fell on it when I was little)
Killed a rubber plant ( Ficus)
killed an african violet
Killed an Aloe
Killed a peace lily
killed a cactus.

yeah.. we have one plant in the house. And though it's "mine" I'm not allowed to touch it. Not sure I should be allowed to watch my kids alone lol. I am REALLY REALLY BAD with plants.

ironically the only thing I've ever kept alive is my orchids. They only died when we moved because they didn't have the right window anymore but before that I had the same one for over 3 years.

I've now killed 3 cactus', 4 stalks of bamboo, and am working on killing some more stalks of bamboo at work.

I can't keep anything alive!
Strangley.. someone's "Marble Queen" at work was dying so someone sat it on my desk and it's sprung back to life..

Has anyone ever heard the myth that if someone has died in your house that plants will not stay alive?

I say that because my mom had the greenest thumb around and when they bought a house in 1989 when we moved in my mom couldn't keep anything alive. We were told that an elderly lady has passed away in the house in the late 70's.
