When Eric King moved from his apartment in Pittsburgh to a single-family home with a lawn, he bought a manual lawn mower instead of the usual gas-powered kind. He figures he's putting money in his pocket and saving trips to the filling station.

How about it? Do you/would you use one of these? Have gas prices changed you lawn mowing habits?

I don't have to mow, because I live in an apartment. If I did have a yard to mow, I would hire someone else to mow it. If all possibilites of having someone else mow my lawn were unavailable, then yes, I would try an electric or manual mower.

We had one of these when I was growing up. I hated it! It's a PITA. You have to clean the blades everytime you finish, oil them everytime (makes the grass come off easier), and sharpen them at least once a month. Personally, we only mow once a week anyway and it doesn't take that much gas. We fill up 2 times during the summer and 2 times for the rest of the year. Our yard is big, but not huge. The price is worth it for us. I wouldn't go back to one of the push mowers if you paid me!
