"Just about any containercan hold a garden. Punch holes in the bottem of old buckets or watering cans--you can even use a colander as a hanging basket container. Arrange and rearrange plants on the ground before potting them. Water in their original pots and let drain, then put into the container; large central plants first, smaller plants for the front and sides. You can plant closer together than you can in the ground, which gives a fuller effect. Once planted, thoroghly soak until water comes out the drainage holes. Continue to water in the early mornings if possible. Most flowering plants will give a better display if 'deadheaded' regularly. Simply pinch off the dead blossoms so that the energy that would other wise go into producing seeds can be used for development of new blossoms instead."
