Brian just called me. The body shop just called him. They'll have the van fixed and ready to go August 20th. A full EIGHT DAYS after our 30-day rental has expired. So the guy's going to call Allstate because 1-it's not our fault the **** tree fell on our van and 2-it's not our fault it's going to take the shop so **** long.

A few minutes before he called, the other manager from the office called me. So I was curt. I wasn't rude but I wasn't sweet either. I told her yes, we feel the office should pay for any of out of pocket expenses on this but that since the other manager told me to go through the insurance company, we are going to do just that; thank you for calling.

Told Brian and he about got mad at me until I reminded him that the other manager said that. But he said that the company doesn't care and won't persue it.

I think that after his news, they would try to go after the office just to get their 8 days of fees back, if nothing else. And since they're doing that (hyperthecically) then they should be getting our $500 deductable as well. Then we can pay his Mom back in one large chunk instead of making payments for God knows how long.

Oh, and it's gonna cost twelve thousand dollars to fix the **** van.

Here's a link to the pictures on Flickr.

I think they didn't write it off because it's still drivable. It just *snort* needs a new roof, two new rear/side panels (that area behind the sliding doors), a new rear door. Not to mention the tail lights fixed/replaced. It's a total of 123.56 man hours and $11,976.

The guy at the body shop is suppossed to call us twice a week to let us know how it's going. He said that Kia is slow to mail parts. And the last roof this shop ordered from them was seriously dented in the shipping. The guy (John) also said that he's going to call Allstate about extending our rental past the 30 days.

Pretty, huh? And it wasn't a bad storm, either. Heavy rain for about two minutes and then it sprinkled for about 20. I'm just glad none of the kids around here were out there.
