that when you read labels it seems like EVERYTHING contains sugar!!! Even my favorite salad dressings that i didn't think have sugar in them do.....low fat or no fat stuff even has sugar in it

So when we are on phase one of our SB diets.....are some of these things still ok???? Or am I kinda shooting myself in the foot by using my favorite dressings anyways?????

Before I got pregnant with Elizabeth...I wanted to lose 5 pounds. I tried the Atkins diet...I lasted only about 2 days because I was craving all of that sugar. I love bagels...they no no fat, but the sugar was out of this world...like 56 grams for one bagel.

JMO...I would use salad dressing that maybe had more fat, but less sugar. Now I have been seeing a lot of things in the grocery store if you are watching your carps.

They say to avoid low-fat stuff altogether because they replace the fat with sugar. It's best if you can replace your salad dressings with something sugar free -- here in the states, they've come out with a line of Carb-solutions sugar free salad dressings. Haven't tried them yet. You can also make a dressing using balsamic vinegar and oil -- I hear it's pretty good.

If you just can't give up your ranch or whatever, then just use it sparingly. If that's the only cheat you do, and you only use a tablespoon or two, I'm sure it won't make a huge difference.

Here's the SB recipe for Balsamic Vinaigrette

1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon white pepper
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil

I'm not sure about the other dressings, but that very well could be. If a few tablespoons of something low sugar helps you eat your veggies and keeps you from running out to get a burger instead, I'm sure it's OK!
