*Groan* Mine dressed up ...get this...all in white....I think she was assuming this was her wedding....Given how attach her and DH (who is such a Mama's Boy) can be..don't want to think along that lines...*Shudder*

To make things worst...all through our wedding...she talked what HER fifth wedding was going to be like...

Mine wore green which ticked me off. I wanted green for my bridesmaids but she said it was in August and would not look appropriate. So, I chose Cranberry and she wore green. A typical Mother of the Groom dress, too. Jacket with matching skirt, hat, shoes, purse and gloves all dyed to match. I mean, it wasn't bad - just not something I would have chosen.

Come to think of it - she stills owes me $$$ for it. It cost me $400 and that was over 8 yrs ago.

Ah, MILs, gotta love 'em.

Mine borrowed one for our wedding .. I think it was a leftover prom dress from the 80's. It was black and gold ... handkerchif (splg) around the bottoms!!! VERY Stevie Nicks!!!

Mine wore a champagne-ish color dress. She bought it for my SIL's wedding, which was 6 months before mine! She said it was so expensive that she was glad she got to wear it twice!

What a question. I should state for the record that my MIL never buys anything ever...unless it is really cheap or used.

She was given this pastelly Perriwinkle colored dress. The color wasn't the worst of it...(considering I was married in December. It honestly looked like a decorated sack. It was a dropped waist thing and the skirt part of it was a bunch of strips of the material all flapping together. It honestly looked like some flapper type of thing. Her makeup was a whole other story

I'm not sure if she purchased something new, it's all kind of a blur, but I know that she looked really pretty and so did my mom!

My mil wore a dress she'd worn to someone's funeral. It was black and had some white lace on it. She didn't wear any makeup or have her hair done. I just ignored it. They gave us a very very significant cash gift and I remind myself that while I'm very prissy with my clothes and makeup and hair, she's not.

I picked out a gorgeous outfit with palazzo pants for my mom to wear and had her hair done for her lol she's not prissy either. I wear the outfit now when I have formal occasions!

My MIL wore almost the same exact dress as my mom.

My mom was p'od about it.. it's not like they could have done anything..my mom picked out her dress in Florida, my MIL picked out her dress here in Ohio.

Ok so my MIL showed up in like a brownish flowered dress, which looked nice, but she was also drunk!!!! What a Wench!!! To make it worse, it was just a family thing. Small, just my family, His family and our Pastor! And all of his family was toasted, DH was so embarressed!

I am happy to say that my Mother in law wore a lovely royal blue gown that had a round silver and rhinestone gather on one shoulder. She is tall and has a nice figure and she looked really nice.

My Mom wore a dusty rose gown that had an over skirt of soft lacy material (same color).

The colors of the two looked very nice together.

We will be married 18 years next Sunday.

For my wedding DH and I went and bought a really nice dress for MIL to wear because we know that she has terrible taste in clothes, well then she ended up going out and buying another dress after we gave her the one we bought!!GGGRRRRRR!!!! The one we bought was a very pretty dress and WOULD have looked very nice on her but instead she wore the one she bought which was a style about 40 yrs too young for her. You know I still haven't ever seen her wear that dress we bought for her.

My MIL bought a matching jacket and skirt set. It was so pretty - a light pink that went well with the colours of the wedding (fuschia and teal). She wore a white shell under. My mom wore a Filipino handmade and hand embroidered cream long gown and a bolero jacket. The embroidery was in green and pink. My moms went well together! Love them both to bits.

Guess I should also point out that I'm of Filipino descent, that's why she wore the dress. Oops!

I do not know if it was new or not. Probably not since she had less than a week to get a dress. She wore a sleevless light blue sweater and a pretty long flowing skirt. I think she looked wonderful and it went with our throw together outdoor wedding just fine.

My ex-MIL refused to come to my wedding. She was angry that her oldest son was not chosen as best man, so she stayed home. I have been divorced from her son for 25+ years, but surprisingly have stayed friendly with the ex-MIL because I did not want to deny my child her grandparent. She and I are not terribly close, but I call and check on her once or twice a month and I do admire many things about her. I think she has mellowed towards me also. I am glad we were able to overcome our problems for my daughter's sake. Though I still think it was a terrible thing to stay home from a son's wedding.

I love my Mother-In-Law ( I guess she's my ex-mother-in law, by now!) so much, because she was so supportive to me, during the divorce. Her kindness and her sense of style go hand in hand. I remember she wore a light blue dress with silver streaks (it sounds wierd, but it was gorgeous) and a matching sweater. She had on high silver heels and a silver purse to go with the whole ensemble. Man, I wanted to wear that dress!! LoL!!

Since I see a big diaper and a diaper pin above my name on my last posting, I wonder if I am going to be "allowed" to stay with you all. I am not a young mother. No one has been in diapers in about 28 years. I just found your MIL topic interesting. If you all want to toss me out, you can. All of my baby ideas are forgotten or obsolete! Sorry.

Well of course you can stay with us! Not everyone here has children. Some have older children. We all have something to add. The diaper pin is your "rank" and it will change as you post more. As an experienced mother I am sure you have a lot to say that could help out our new mommies! And not everything here is about babies. There is something for everyone!

Mulberry-

The diaper pin, etc just means that you are new to posting here- a "baby", just like I am! Your status changes, as you continue to post.

So , what did your Mother-in-law wear to your wedding??

I hope to see more of your postings here--Welcome!

Thanks for the explanation about the diaper pin. It really threw me. I figured I would be run off this board in a minute if I admitted my "baby" is thirty.
My MIL is a real pain. She did not come to my wedding. I divorced her son 25+ years ago. I have maintained a cordial relationship with her. I admire her spunk. She raised three kids on her own back when women didn't often work outside the home. She can be a real harridan though. I talk to her once or twice a month but it gives me a headache almost right away. She is so old now it is hard to be angry with her. I try for patience. I offerred to put her up here, as she lives on the coast of Maine all alone and the winter is long, but we would probably kill each other. She doesn't want to leave her home. I know that's how I will be too.

My MIL wore a black pin strip dress..

We had a quick wedding so she also doubled as Cook and Photographer.

Still looked very nice.
