Stink_Momma Brandon screams when we tell him No. He looks at us, grunts and we say No again, then he clenches his fists and makes a face and screams at us. Attitude already! We are in trouble!

Meagan I need a cork AND a remote! I would like the pause button and the mute button! Right now Gavin is being sent to his room for the screaming. I told him he can be as loud as he wants there.

Spaggie I am in the same bost, ladies. And I am convinced that Ally does it just to hear herself scream. Drew screams right back at her and she thinks it is funny. I scream back at her and she thinks it is funny. We have a little yelling contest. My neighbors probably think I am beating the children. But I'm not, much as I would like to some days... I don't really have a problem with her doing it in public too much. If she does, I put my hand over her mouth, tell her no and she usually stops. Do they make corks for babies, I wonder?

PreemiesPooh Michael is in the screaming club to I'm afraid. He does it at home, in the car, at the store or restaurant. I get so embarrassed.

Sometimes he does it out of frustration or other times when he is excited.

Meagan That is too funny!
06-12-2002 06:25 PM
Roxanna30135 Yes ... I know .. you should have them around to eat mice and stuff like that .. I used to kid Stan that we had an Anaconda living in the backyard .. that was when the grass was tall because he had not cut the grass .. Chase would go walking through the backyard and fall down and pretend to be eaten by something. Stan did not think it was funny! I thought it was!

Meagan Gee..you silly ole girlies! Snakes are not bad things to have around you know!
06-12-2002 10:50 AM
Roxanna30135 I'm sure you guys have them Meagan ... we have them here! ewwwww
06-12-2002 09:02 AM
Meagan Well..I don't know if we do or not.. I am so used to the country which is where home is! And there we do have snakes!
06-12-2002 12:54 AM
AutumnGirl A snake?? You have those where you live??? Ewwwww! Gross!!
06-10-2002 10:17 PM
Meagan Gavin was outside playing and I heard this awful screaming...I ran to the door thinking OMG!!!! He got bit by a snake, or a dog bit him!!! And he was just yelling at the cat! It never ends....

Roxanna30135 We went to kroger today and he screamed all through the store ... I think he liked the way it echoed! I just ignored him and did my shopping and all the other shoppers stared at me. One lady even gave me an ugly look. I just said .... I'm so thankful he has a voice!!
06-10-2002 04:25 PM
AutumnGirl Maybe he just likes the sound of his own voice?? My nephew is 17 months and he likes to scream at the top of his voice, it's more like an earpiercing squeal and my SIL/BIL always run to his attention when he does that, which I think encourages him to do it even more, because he's getting the attention that he wants.

But I think Kale is probably still to young to be looking for that kind of attention, he probably just likes the sound of himself.

Roxanna30135 I've tried ignoring him ... it one encourages him to get louder. I've also tried to put my hand over his moutn and give him the look. He just immitates the look and then laughs out loud!!

Anna ... Chase and Kirstie-Raie scream back at Kale too and them he scream louder. It soon turns into a screaming match.

This is just a sure sign that God has a sence of humor!!

Meagan Roxanna...Gavin still does this too and he is 3!

Maddie is only starting it. I think they do it for the pure fun of hearing their voice...or just to make us all a little more crazy.

Lady Knight I just put my hand over their mouths and said no, firmly, giving them "the look". It was a pain with the boys bc they would wait until I had one and the other would do it arghhh I still remember the frustration, but it did work. Of course I do remember a converstation along the lines of how much that noise hurt Mummy's ears see.... and then screaming as long and loud as I could, don't know if it helped but it made me feel better.

Des said we also diverted their attention and on one or two occasions did that by smacking them on the bottom.

Liz&NicksMom I guess I am lucky an dLiz doesn't do that.......yet

Annaberk Tyler is doing this squeeling scream thingn that is just ear piercing! I can't figure it out. He isn't in pain, hungry, wet/dirty, sleepy, etc. He just stands there and does it. If he is in the playpen, he does it. If he is in the highchair, he does it. If he is walking around the house he does it. If he is playing, he does it. AUGH!!!! Cora complains. She thinks I should spank him or something. ???? What is that going to do? Cora, since I won't do anything but tell Tyler to stop, screams right back at him with the EXACT SAME TONE OF VOICE!!!! AUGH!!!! Then, Tyler cries. Cora cries for making him cry. I am ready to cry! Then, I tell her she needs to comfort him because she was the one who upset him. (Trying to get her to learn responsibility and try to correct her mistakes.) She runs over to him and comfort him, still crying with him. Then, she makes him laugh.

I don't know. I can't get him to stop. Daddy is taken to yelling at him. I don't think that works at all.

Roxanna30135 UGH ... I wish I had a smilie of a lady pulling all her hair out!!! Thanks for the great news Shona!
06-10-2002 12:34 AM
Shona Well, I know this isn't going to be encouraging but.. Logan just turned two and still does it.
06-09-2002 10:30 PM
Roxanna30135 Don't you just hate it when people do that ... I mean don't laugh and encourage them. Then they think it is funny and cute!
06-09-2002 10:18 PM
MeShell I have the same problem! Kimmy has started screaming whenever it suits her! If we are in a store or resturant people laugh and it just encourages her!

Please share if you find a solution!

Roxanna30135 Kale has been doing this for a while ... but it is getting worse! He screams. ALL THE TIME. not like he is hurting or sleepy or anything like that. He just screams!!!! I'm going crazy!! People in the store think I have beat him or something!!

His favorite time to scream is during ANY meal!!!!!

Anybody have this problem??????

We tell him no. Shhhh him ... all thse things without raising our voice! I've even put my hand gently on his mouth when he does this and he thinks it is funny!
