|BippyCat||Thanks, my Dr. said today that he wants me to stop bfing for 2 weeks to see if my milk is the issue, going to continue to pump during this time. If she is still having blood in her stools we are supposed to try the step up from the nutramigen (sp?) and / or see a Pediactric Gastrointestinal Specialist. Poor Ava.|

|BeccaSueBoo||I was going to say it could be a cow's milk sensitivity...even if it's broken down different in the formula it's still there, she may need soy, or Alimentum or something. Or you could stop supplimenting and see if that helps. Babies get more efficient at emptying your breasts the older they get.|

So Ava is having blood in her stools and I was thinking that it may have started right around the time I started having to supplement with formula but now I am thinking that it started before then? I wish I could remember. I wasn't really sure that it was blood when I saw it in her stools at first then I took a diaper to the pediatrician and they confirmed it was blood. She is currently on a special type of formula where the cow's milk is broken down differently as this can sometimes cause blood in stools. On Tuesday it will be 1 week since I have switched her on to this formula and she is still having blood, not every stool. Some stools she only has the teeniest amount and other stools there is more. I am supposed to go back in 2 weeks of starting her on the new formula if this is still happening or sooner if it gets worse. I also have had to cut all dairy out of my diet since I bf too.
Has anyone else gone through this? I am worried that if the blood isn't coming from the formula since it may have started earlier that something else could be wrong? She doesn't have any other symptoms and no fever.
