It is thicker than Desitin and does not sting at all. It comes in little packets that has a sponge applicator -- it's much cleaner to use than anything else in a jar or tube. I now use it all the time.|

The smell isn't that bad, better than Desitin. Almost a minty smell. But I'm telling you it works!! You hae to order it.|

HI. ONE OF MY GIRL FRIENDS TOLD ME ABOUT A CREAM YOU CAN GET AT WALMART. IT IS COW CREAM. IT IS BY THE COSMETICS.
I HAVENT TRYED IT, BUT I HEARD IT FROM A FEW PEOPLE. I PERSONNALY FIND DESITIN TO BE THE BEST YET. I THINK YOUR BEST BET IS TO TRY THE CHEAPEST AND THEN WORK YOUR WAY UP TILL YOU FIND WHAT WORKS BEST. BECAREFUL THOUGH, BEFORE YOU BUY YOUR CREAMS MAKE SURE TO SMELL THEM. I FOUND SOME OF THEM SMELL LIKE DEAD FISH (NOT TO MAKE YOU SICK) HOPE THIS HELPS.

I tried Ad ointment and like it. It's cheap and has no smell to me. Sounds like a winner.
Thank you all

How about using Vaseline on your baby's bottom?
I use this sometimes and it seems to work and it is cheap! I hope this helps!

I have found that equate sinc oxide cream which is about 3 or 4 dollars canadian at wal-mart and can be found cheap just about everywhere. I have yet to have a diaper rash on my son and he is 5 months old. I also pile that white goopy stuff on though and we go through about a 250 g jar of it every 2-3 months. Not really bad price. I tried petroleum jelly but he started to get a rash and I switched right away. Our doctor said that zinc oxide cream the no-name stuff is the best for getting rid of the rashes unless you strip your child naked for hours at a time and let them pee on the floor

Have you tried the creamy desitin. We have that and the regular stuff and the reg. stuff smells awful but with creamy desitin I have noticed that awful smell.
I agree with everyone else try Petroleum jelly.

|Aiyanna mom||I bag balm to so that she wont catch a rash. It is just the price is to high now. And Desitin has a funny smell that makes me want to let my food go. I have not tried AD but I will give it a try.|

|Lori||I also like the petroleum jelly if you can catch in the beginning but if you can't I always found that the regular AD ointment worked really well.|

I have to agree with Kristin. If you're looking to prevent diaper rash, go for cheap, generic brand petroleum jelly. If you're trying to treat a rash, I don't know what to tell you. I've always used Desitin and I almost always have a $1 off coupon lying around. Comes in all those coupon packs you get in the mail.

|Kristenph||Our first pediatrician didn't like any diaper rash ointment and suggested using petroleum jelly instead. I have found that it works very well to prevent diaper rash and also clears it up at the early stages. However, if your baby has a bad case of diaper rash, you would need something stronger.|
