Tweakkey81 Shawn Jr has chronic diaper rash. No sooner do we get one rash cleared up does he get another. No rash creams or powders work for him. I have to use a strong prescription cream all the time to keep him from getting it.

I hope she clears up soon.

Heather Most people in Louisiana swear by Boudreaux's Butt Paste. The girls have never had a diaper rash because as soon as they get a little red we put some Butt Paste on it and the redness goes away by the next diaper change. (Yep, it works that fast!) I would be happy to send you some if you would like.

It was invented by a local doctor and you could only get it by perscription until a couple of years ago. The pharmacys had a recipe for it and they would have to mix it when the prescription was brought to them. (I know a pharmicist, that's how I got that little tid bit of information.)
Now we can buy it over the counter and I have never met anyone around here who uses anything else for diaper rash.

AutumnGirl Wendy, without a word of a lie, you know what worked the very best for me?? Yeast infection cream!! Seriously, I use that with a bit of protective cream (zincofax, desitin etc) and it clears it up so fast!
Diaper rashes are caused by a yeast inbalance, usually caused by a viral infection, teething etc., so that's why the yeast infection cream works so well. I can't remember the name of the stuff that I usually have (it's not Monistat, it's the other popular brand), but then a pharmacist at Shopper's Drug Mart told me that you can buy like a cortisone cream (I think) that is the same thing and it's so much cheaper!
Anyway, good luck getting that all cleared up. Hope you find something that works.

Stephanie Poor little princess. Hope she's feeling better soon.

Wendy I am moving this to baby basics Didn't know I would get so much helpful advice!
08-08-2003 02:40 PM
Wendy I've been letting her air out. But the girl travels fast and right off the

I've been using the Kleenex paper towels with just water because I know some diaper wipes have alcohol in them.

Thanks for all the wonderful ideas! I feel like a first time Christian never had diaper rash!

Miss Bea Haven When Alexandria used to get bad diaper rash, I would lay a cloth diaper in her swing seat and sit her on top of it without a diaper on to let her air out. I can't remember what kind of dipaer rash cream I used.

I hope Kelsey feels better soon.

Meagan I was going to suggest the neosporin or some other type of antibiotic ointment. You might also want to stop using baby wipes because they can be really irritating to already irritated skin. I hope it clears up fast for her!!

AWKSMOM Poor Kelsey. We use Flanders Buttock Ointment for Alexander and it works really well. Let her bottom dry before putting anything on it and maybe that will help. I hope she's better soon.

Liz&NicksMom I have soem stuff I use that my mom sent me from the hospital she works at.....I could always send some to you. It may not reach you in time to help her this time, but it could help fo rnext time for Kelsey

Roxanna30135 Poor baby. I swear by Balmex .. I hope you find something that works!
08-08-2003 02:18 PM
Natalie Oh and you can also make an oatmeal pack with plain oatmeal and very little water so it makes a thick paste. Then put it in her diaper at night. When Haley's gets really irritated, that usually makes an improvement by morning so I can start treating it.
08-08-2003 02:14 PM
Natalie I do the baking soda bath for Haley and give her LOTS of air time. When she was little like Kelsey, I would put her on a blanket and take her diaper off. That way she would soil the blanket, not the carpet. I hope she feels better soon.

Tara Poor thing! I hope it clears up soon.
08-08-2003 01:56 PM
Becky Aside for medicated stuff I also used lanolin (stuff I used when BF) as a barrier cream. The key is making sure no pee or poop get on it so it won't irritate it.

Dawn TJ had to use that jock itch cream (Lotrimin) awhile back to clear his up. He actually had raw sores that bled. Poor baby! I alternated that and pure Cornstarch. Once it starts clearing up, put gobs of Desitin or similar balm on until the diarhea clears up.

As for that, we were told to give TJ a small amount of Kaopectate ... but he was older than Kelsey. You might want to call the doc and ask if you can give it to her since she doesn't appear to have any other signs of illness.

Poor, poor baby. Hope she feels better soon!

BeccaSueBoo Soda bath always worked for Rachelle.
08-08-2003 01:16 PM
Elaine Sorry I don't have any advice but I hope you get it cleared up soon. Poor little Kelsey.
08-08-2003 12:55 PM
Grace I used A&D on Kate and it cleared it up within a few uses, however, hers was not that bad. I hope this clears up quickly for Kelsey.
08-08-2003 12:44 PM
Wendy Thanks you guys!

I feel so bad and so far there hasn't been anything that I can do to make her feel better. I will definatly get some of this stuff tonight when we get groceries!

Shari Ohh... poor thing.
Last time Kyler had a bad diaper rash the dr told us to mix a 1% hydrocortizine cream with the destin in our hand, then put it on his tushie.
It worked wonders. I'm not sure if you should ask the dr before doing that though. It does say on the cream "not for diaper rash".

Good luck! I hope it clears up soon!

MeShell Awwww poor baby! Kimmy a bad rash when she was teething. I used this stuff called Boudreaux's Butt Paste and it was gone the next day.

I hope it goes away both must be miserable!

Stink_Momma My ped said to put neosporin and then powder on top to form a paste, that way anything, pee or poo does not stick to the raw hiney and the neosporin will help the healing. Give pedialyte to be from getting dehydrated and it also thickens it up some. If you don't have neosporin, use your diaper rash medicine and powder, let sit for a minute or two before putting the diaper on. When I do this, Brandon's tush always looks better quickly.

Poor Kelsey!
08-08-2003 12:37 PM
simonne Bathe her in a baking soda bath and then use an A and D mixed with destin and it will go away fast DS always did but I had to keep using it after it was gone so that he didnt get it back (just for a few days)

Wendy My little munchkin has such HORRIBLE HORRIBLE diaper rash. Christian never had diaper rash but he never had runny diapers when he was teething.

Every diaper I change of Kelsey's is yucky....I have gone through about 15 diapers during the day(I swear she goes every half hour to hour) and about 3 at night.

Yesterday I bought Aveeno diaper rash ointement and we had some Creamy Desiten. Is there something that works better? This looks SO sore and in some places looks extremly raw
