AWKSMOM After finding the recipe for homemade wipes here, my husband has been making them and we love them!! They work a lot better than the store bought ones and are a lot cheaper. To me, they seem to clean better because they are a little wetter.

tmbassett my sister in laws have six kids between the two of them and they swear by these homemade wipes. They do say however to splurge for the more expensive papertowels because cheaper ones tend to fall apart.

Aiyanna mom I dont use bounty I use what ever I buy at the store. I just use them for when we are out. Other than that I use a washable wipe and use the solution. It is also good to keep the solution in the refrigerator.

CAGmomof1 Do You Have to use Bounty or any other Expensive Towels or can you use Generic Paper Towel to make the homemade baby wipes! You see I am trying to cut all the corners I can to save my Family more money!

Aiyanna mom I have found this wipe recipe to work good.

1 1/2-2 cups of water- (distilled works best but tap is okay),
1/4 cup aloe vera gel,
1 TBS.Weleda Calendula oil,
2 TSP. baby shampoo- we use one without SLE/SLES,
2-3 drops of tea tree oil,
2-3 drops of lavender oil.

Mix all ingredients and put in container (like a Chubs box) and wrap wipe warmer around it. I keep my wipes on the side and dip them in as needed. I find this keeps them fresh. You can also put this in a spray bottle if you prefer.

And You can go here http://www.wildroots.com/recipes.htm

Dawn Homemade Baby Wipes

1 roll strong paper towel (I used VIVA Ultra)

2 T. baby shampoo (for sensitive skin use Mennen Baby Bath)

2 1/4 cup water

1 T. baby oil

1 circular wipes container

Cut the roll of towels in half so there are 2 small rolls. Use a very sharp knife. With a pair of pliers, grab hold of the cardboard center and pull it out. A few sheets of the paper towel will come out with it. In a bowl, combine the wet ingredients. Pour half of them in the wipes container. Place the roll in the container on top of the fluid. Pour the rest of the fluid over the top of the roll. Cut the small opening of the container (where the wipes come out) to make it a bit larger. These wipes will last about 2 weeks then need to be replaced.

Dawn Cetaphil is the really mild cleanser that they suggested I use on Cody when his eczema is really bad. Maybe you can try that instead of baby wash!

Lori Thanks Dawn,
I currently use Aveeno baby bath on her but I do have some of that J&J so I will try that with the wipes.

Dawn I honestly don't know about the paper towels. To tell you the truth, I would probably try it with Viva towels. They are the best paper towels I've ever used. Very soft, but really durable. We've accidentally washed them several times, and they don't fall apart. They remind me of reusable towels.

I also don't know about the baby bath. Are you able to use baby bath on her now? I wouldn't think it would be any harsher than that. Perhaps instead of baby bath you could try some of that special soap for people with really sensitive skin. Of course I can't think of the name right now, but Cody has a bottle around her somewhere. I'll dig it out and tell you what it's called. Or maybe use some of that J&J Sensitive Skin bath?

Lori This sounds like a great idea but just as a question, being that there is baby bath in there, does this tend to make their skin drier? I just don't want to give my baby anymore rashes. Also since I don't use Bounty is it possible to use another brand or is Bounty the softest one out there and that is why you should use it.

Dawn Homemade Baby Wipes

Ingredients

1 roll Bounty paper towels
2 1/4 cups water
2 Tbls. baby bath or shampoo
1 Tbls. baby oil

Cut roll of paper towels in half, remove the cardboard center. Mix all ingredients in an old baby wipe container. Place roll of towels in, and start the roll from the center. Initially, you may wish to turn it over to let the roll soak up the mixture.

Thanks to our friends at http://www.familycorner.com for helping out with this one!
